A group of Cranes from The Great Crane Project made another appearance over the Avalon Marshes today, as 11 came North over Ham Wall RSPB and Shapwick Heath NNR at 10:30am. They were circling over Westhay village, where my Dad took this photo from the back garden. An amazing sight to see from the comfort of home!
Aside from the Cranes, other sightings today included a Wood Sandpiper and a Dunlin on the Meare Heath scrape and 6-7 Hobbies around the reserves. Bitterns and Marsh Harriers continue to be very visible as their feeding flights increase.
