A Hoopoe is currently 1 mile South-west of Westhay village on the footpath between Honeygar Farm and the Burtle road. It is best viewed from where the footpath meets the road about 200m East of Godwins Peat Works.
A great find on the edge of our village by my Dad!
We had a nervous moment while waiting for birders to arrive when this juvenile Peregrine flew over looking hungry |
Not the most likely setting for a rarity considering the vast amount of land managed for nature conservation nearby |
It just goes to show, rare birds can turn up anywhere! |
