8th April

I had another long day birding on the Avalon Marshes today, with a friend from my uni days coming up to visit. We spent the day walking pretty much the length and breadth of the marshes, and saw a great variety of birds, including the following highlights:

Red Kite over Ham Wall

Hen Harrier over Catcott

Bar-tailed Godwit at Meare heath with 50 Black-taileds
Also saw my first Green Sandpiper of the year on the River Brue, and a Merlin near Westhay village.
