8th May

I was volunteering with the RSPB on Ham Wall so didn't do much in the way of birding. I had a quick look at the reserves beforehand though, and even that was enough to see some quality:

Black-tailed Godwits in a nice variety of plumages

I'm helping out Natural England with Bittern monitoring on Shapwick Heath NNR tomorrow. I've been given the position in Decoy Hide, which looking at the weather forecast for the day is a very fortunate draw!
